On 14th Nov 2013, Virtusa, sent 3 donors and 3 standby donors in forming the 3 rings of A+, B+ and O+ for children suffering from Thallassemia and who are currently being catered to by the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children, Egmore, Chennai. CSR leaders in Virtusa were enthused by the idea of Ri-SuPP and decided to support the movement!

There are a lot of children who are suffering from Thalassemia. Its a disease which causes the weakening and destruction of red blood cells in a child. Thalassemia is caused by variant or missing genes that affect how the body makes hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. People with thalassemia make less hemoglobin and fewer circulating red blood cells than normal, which results in mild or severe anemia. as per wikipedia.

To help such children Ring of Support - Ri-SuPP is an endeavor to form a support group that will donate to a single child suffering from Thalassaemia. If you wish to join this support group, send a mail indicating your interest and blood group.
